Wheel Throwing with Kristen - Tuesday Evenings- week 1/5
THIS CLASS BEGINS MAY 19TH AND RUNS UNTIL JUNE 16TH, 6-9pm TUESDAY NIGHTS FOR 5 WEEKS. Make up classes are available if needed! Chat with your instructor about this to plan a make up class.
This ceramics class is tailored for all skill levels, ages 18+. We will be delving into the world of wheel throwing for four weeks, and glazing on the fifth. I like to introduce hand building activities as well, so every student can get the most out of this class- regardless of your experience on the wheel.
Our studio is wonderful for hands on instruction and guidance. Come let out stress, and find your creative flow. Weekly sessions run 3 hours long, every Tuesday evening from 6pm-9pm. You will get to learn the entire process, and take everything home glazed and finished once the class is done!
Each student will be given all the tools necessary to be successful in the class, one 25lb bag of clay, access to all the student glazes and firings; and most of all, our hands on, one to one help throughout the class. Our goal is to make sure everyone grows at their own pace. We will be there along side each student for guidance as needed, so that you can create exactly what your heart desires.

RAKU DATE! 5/23/26
Explore the wonders of raku firing!
This unique date night will create memories and pottery that lasts a lifetime.
This event will be held in Tumalo Bend, on a beautiful property with views of the mountains! You wont want to miss out on this amazing experience. This Raku day will take place from 10am-2ish pm , Saturday May 23rd.
Choose a vessel to glaze- each person will be able to select a few vases from a variety of shapes! After glazing, we place pots into the kiln, and let the magic of raku take over. Each firing takes approximately 45 minutes- 1 hour. Enjoy the nature, music, a walk around the property, yard games, charcuterie, beverages and mingling while the kiln heats up! Then we pull from the kiln... the really fun part!
Raku firing: We remove the pottery from a gas powered kiln with large tongs, place them into a trash can with combustibles, and watch the magic happen! Raku is an ancient form of firing, that will make you feel connected to your pieces on a deeper level than a normal electric kiln firing. The pieces are not food safe- typically we make vases, planters and other decoration pieces.
This class is designed for adults, no clay experience needed!
We will clean the pots up after firing, and create a unique flower arrangement from the dry flowers to fill your vessel.
Each person can expect to walk away from the class with 1-2 beautiful and unique pieces of pottery.
TICKETS SOLD AS PAIRS! ($150 per person). Larger groups are more than welcome to join as well. Contact us via email if you wish to get 3 or 5 tickets and we can send an invoice for an additional spot if wanted.
Please contact us if you have any questions! We cant wait to RAKU with YOU!

What to expect?
We will be both Hand Building and Wheel throwing throughout the week. We will also focus on surface design like carving, under glazing, plant impressions and more!
Creative brainstorming is important for all artists. We will dedicate some time each day to learning to think like an artist, experiment with new ideas and mediums to uncover and learn to connect with this grounding material we call clay.
Schedule:
This is a typical schedule, and we do encourage any flexibility that individual artist may need in order to be successful!
Warm up-
Sketchbooks, minds and hand warm ups to prepare for action!
Demos-
This is where we teach techniques, talk about different stages of clay- Hands on, eyes on dialogue based learning!
Getting into the clay- The fun part everyone’s waited for!
Pottery Wheel (days 1,3 and 5)
Hand Building and surface decoration (days 2 and 4)
Clean up and reflection/discussion
Reflection and documentation is important for any artist. During this time, we will reflect on our experience, journal about anything we learned, new ideas, things we are proud of etc. We clean up and prepare for the next day during this time.
