Explore the wonders of raku firing!

This class is held on 3 consecutive Sundays. September 3rd, 10th and 17th. The first two sessions will be held at our studio from 10am -1pm. The third class (firing day) will be held in Tumalo on a beautiful property with views of the mountains, wildflowers and duck pond! You wont want to miss out on this amazing experience. Firing will be an all day event, 10-3 or 4pm. We will organize a potluck lunch!

Raku firing: We remove the pottery from a gas powered kiln with large tongs, place them into a trash can with combustibles, and watch the magic happen! Raku is an ancient form of firing, that will make you feel connected to your pieces on a deeper level than a normal electric kiln firing. The pieces are not food safe, typically we make vases, planters and other decoration pieces.

This class is designed for someone with a little clay experience. If you don’t have experience and still want to join, contact us! We would love to have you join still. Most pieces will be made on the wheel, but hand building is an option as well.

The first week we will be creating pieces, the second we will be trimming and decorating the pieces, and on the third week we will fire them! You can expect to walk away from the class with 3-4 beautiful and unique pieces of pottery.
